For the past few years, the worldwide web has gradually engrossed the international status quo with its ample contributions to various fields. The “one click away” mode of internet has drawn attention from the population. Vast majority of the youth, mainly constituted by students, continues to enjoy the advantages of internet up-to-date.
In this internet generation, however, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and other websites have gradually displaced books in terms of the number of current users. The continuous rise of internet users, however, is inevitable as technology is expected to continue dominating the globe. Nonetheless the worldwide web can be a very convenient mode of promoting different skills including reading.
Through the benefits offered by technology, a team of students led by their English teacher Mrs. Teresita Moldogo administers an interactive website entitled “CHS Reads” (http://chsreads.webs.com/) – an open and engaging site that welcomes everyone, especially students, to join the discussions with topics concerning reading. Initially, the site was intended for the students of Commonwealth High School (hence the site’s name) to enable its students interact with one another. Members of the website are encouraged to share their insights on some books they’ve read and/or suggest brilliant books that can provide priceless wisdom to other book-lovers.
The website is also convenient source of must-read book titles in various genres and some of their information, acting as a virtual library. There are also various widgets such as “word for the day”, “verse for the day” and “quotation for the day”. Visitors are also welcome to contact the site’s administrators for feedbacks or insights.
The next time you surf the net, why not try this fun and exciting website to find out some good reads? Be a member and interact with your fellow book-lovers in this website intended for readers like you!
